Motoring While Black is a creative outlet focused on motoring enthusiasts of color. It was created by Rashod Bacon based on his experiences navigating the LA-based car scene in the wake of the the racial unrest of 2020.
Often Rashod would find himself as the “only” in the room. Finding, acknowledging, and connecting with other people of color in the car scene became his focus. In that process, he found that there were actually many people of color but often times sprinkled and siloed across about two dozen separate car communities, rarely intermingling.
Eventually, this sparked the creative desire to document and share these experiences to help connect the disparate dots among the diaspora of melanated motoring enthusiasts. Rashod fancies himself a storyteller and his preferred medium is photography.
